After six years of building, planning and trial and error, Rob Daytona is mere moments away from his dream. Without any prior experience or formal education in the field, Daytona worked to create his very own RPG adventure game. Inspired by RPGs of the 80s, the mobile fantasy RPG Shadow Quest has finally reached its Kickstarter goal.
Many gamers dream of developing their own game, but Daytona successfully put his into action. With a goal of just over a thousand dollars, he managed to raise nearly six times the amount with 150 backers. Shadow Quest will be free to play, with no in-game purchases. Additionally, Daytona has made sure that his game will be accessible and easy to play for everyone. By bypassing unnecessary tutorials, dialogue and complex controls, the game is tailored for those on the autism spectrum or with learning disabilities. Taking inspiration from Diablo, the game promises a cast of diverse enemies and an expansive map. Its old-school aesthetic will certainly make it popular among retro gamers.
Indie creators have a hard path to tread, but Rob Daytona is determined to see it through. No matter how the game fares, Shadow Quest is a testament to the determination and ambition of a passionate gamer, something to be admired in a world as competitive as the gaming industry.
