Return to Monkey Island, the critically acclaimed point-and-click adventure game, is now available for iOS and Android devices. The original Monkey Island title launched in 1990, with Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge releasing the following year. Return to Monkey Island begins where the 1991 title left off.
Brought to mobile by Devolver, the game revolves around Guybrush Threepwood, who years ago triumphed in a battle of wits against his nemesis, the zombie pirate LeChuck. Since then, his true love, Eliane, has given up governing. Having never uncovered the secret of Monkey Island, Guybrush has felt adrift ever since his last adventure. Now, however, cool young pirates have taken over Melee Island. The shift in power leaves the island in dire straits and famous businessman Stan is placed under arrest for ‘marketing-related’ crimes. Now Guybrush must set sail and explore the new and mysterious environment that awaits him.
In Return to Monkey Island, players will partake in classic point-and-click adventure gameplay with a modern twist. Solve puzzles and explore islands using an enhanced version of classic adventure game controls. Beyond puzzles to solve, the game features a simplistic inventory system and reactive branching dialogues.
Players will explore Melee Island as well as new places such as Terror Island and the Brrr Muda outpost. Along your journey, you forge alliances and make new enemies. The game is currently available on the App Store and the Google Play Store for $9.99.
