Sit down, order food, let it come to you and feast away. We all know these steps, but not all of us have been on the other side of it. Food has been ordered and now it needs to be cooked, served and then paid for by the customer. In Restaurant Story: Decor & Cook from developer Beyond the Game, you will be in charge of running your own restaurant and then expanding it into multiple businesses.
Your First Store
You immediately start off in your restaurant and unload furniture to get your first customers. Since it is a brand new restaurant, you are the one doing every role. You are the waitress, cook and receptionist all at once. It definitely keeps you busy in the beginning, but once you have some help hired it becomes a lot easier for you.
From the time you serve your first guest, you have a never ending flow of customers. Once you have leveled up your store, you can hire a cook to make it easier for you to serve everyone. As you continue to level up, you hire more workers including another cook, two receptionists and two waitresses.
One of my favorite things about serving the guests is that they did not appear to get angry if you did not serve them quickly enough. There were many times that I would accidentally skip over a guest or they would be sitting for a long time. I was always concerned they would get angry but it never seemed to happen.
Opening More Stores and Upgrading
After your first store is fully leveled up, you get an option to open another store. Your second one is a coffee shop, where you can start building another successful business. It is the same pattern, with you doing all of the work by yourself until you upgrade the restaurant. Then you hire help again and decorate the restaurant until you have fully leveled it up and move on to your next restaurant.
While you are leveling up the restaurant, you are also leveling up your food dishes. You can do this by either expanding the menu or upgrading current menu items. When you upgrade the menu items, they will cost more and therefore bring you in more money. The menu will unlock more while you are leveling up your restaurant and you will upgrade the items from there. You can also upgrade your employees, which will have them work faster to cut down on wait times. This helped me enjoy Restaurant Story more because it felt like I had goals to accomplish, along with something out of the norm to do.
Not Much Variety
While there are a few different options for changing your furniture, the majority of it is already pre-selected and cannot be changed. You can choose to watch an ad to change it between one of three choices, but only for the tables. While there are ads that annoyingly pop up, the ads that you can watch to change the tables are not. The choice is yours to watch it or not. You cannot change the chairs and other decorations at all. The decorations already have pre-set places to put them, so sadly there is not any variety in placing them. The spot it goes to will light up in green and arrows point out where to place them if you get lost.
Restaurant Story is all about building your business, decorating the stores and serving the customers that come in. But while there is not much variety to the playthrough, it was fun buying and placing the decorations. The decorations and their different choices are wonderful and placed in spots I would have put them myself. I only wish there was a way to add more options for the decorations like they did for the tables.
While playing Restaurant Story, I found myself having a lot of fun. I love that there is plenty of decorating to do and that I am always running around doing something. There are plenty of other restaurants that you will open up, which helps keep you busy for a long time. For players looking for a cozy but constant game, this is it.
Restaurant Story: Decor & Cook is a fun game that you will easily get lost in. It is easy to sit and play for hours because you never run out of things to do, such as serving guests or buying and placing new decorations. While I wish there was more variety with the decorations, everything else ran very smoothly and made it very fun to play. You are going to enjoy running and growing your businesses in Restaurant Story!
