Adventure Awaits You in Panilla Saga
The highly anticipated idle RPG Panilla Saga made by Ujoy Games is available on the App Store and Google Play. The storytelling and lore of Panilla Saga will have you captivated and playing for hours.
The story revolves around the Sage Stone, which foretells the future. The power from the Stone formed a covenant to seal the Monsters. Over the years the Stone goes missing and the Monsters return. You play as the Chosen One who will stop the Monsters and bring peace back to the land.
The game visuals are eye candy with a combination of retro pixels and modern graphics. The 2D pixel characters will remind you of classic Final Fantasy games from the ‘80s and ‘90s eras.
The game dialogue is both easy to follow and believable. Occasionally you may choose your response in a conversation. I enjoy games that let you pick a response because depending upon how you answer, it can steer the conversation in different directions.
Learning About Factions, Roles, Classes and Skills
There are four characteristics to your heroes in Panilla Saga. They are Faction, Role, Class and Skill. Heroes come from different factions and there is six total, some of which are Alliance, Draconia and Abyss. Panilla Saga has a “Faction Countering” system, meaning that one faction deals 25 percent more damage to another.
The role of your hero lets you know what type of damage they deal to enemies. The game has three different roles. Heavy and Light roles deal Physical damage, whereas Cloth roles deal Mana damage.
Hero class indicates their fighting style. Some heroes are aggressive attackers, while others are defenders. Having a combination of hero classes will help your strategy.
Heroes come with their own skill set for dealing damage to enemies. Additionally, your hero comes with an energy skill and secondary skills. The energy skill can deal a large amount of damage to enemies or boost other heroes if it is a support hero.
The energy skill activates once the energy skill meter is full from attacking enemies in battle. Think of this energy skill meter as the limit gauge from Final Fantasy.
Fans of Final Fantasy will remember that once the limit gauge is full, you can activate a limit break and something big happens. My favorite was Cloud Strife’s Omnislash from Final Fantasy VII. Always was entertaining to watch Cloud hack the enemy to pieces.
In Panilla Saga, you can get a similar joy to watching your party decimate your foes with their energy skill attacks. It can be much fun to see the amount of crazy action happening on your phone screen. Your hero does various attacks from secondary skills and they can be upgraded by leveling up.
Ranking Your Heroes
Panilla Saga has a tier list guide for characters ranking from the highest S-tier to the lowest D-tier. There are nearly 100 heroes you can recruit to form your party.
S-tier characters are considered the best in the game and should be added to your party. Prioritize leveling them up at all times. A-tier characters fill gaps in your party, especially when you don’t have enough S characters to use.
B-tier characters are suitable early in the game but should be swapped out with S or A characters when possible. C-tier characters may work great for a certain game mode but should not be used later in the game.
D-tier characters should generally be avoided since they underperform at all stages in the game. Here is my list of the best S characters to use based on community voting and feedback. These characters are Beo, Elena, Geironul, Goll, Kaguya, Mist, Molliere, Nancy, Nue, Oboro, Reginleif and Skogul.
Final Comments
Panilla Saga scores high in many areas such as having a strong storyline, genuine characters, beautiful visuals and an effective battle system. The game is straightforward to pick up and play. I had no trouble figuring out the game controls and enjoyed the idle RPG’s fluidity. I would highly recommend this game to others.
