All Your Favorite Marvel Characters Are Here
Strategy games have never been my forte. I never had the patience to sit down and plan moves to win against an opponent. I prefer going in guns blazing and mowing down any enemies in my path, as that’s more fun to me. However, unlike other strategy games, Marvel Snap kept my attention non-stop and even got me addicted to its battle system.
Developed by Nuverse, Marvel Snap is a card-based strategy game with an extensive roster of superheroes and villains across the Marvel universe. From Spider-Man and Hulk to Dr. Doom and Galactus. All your favorite characters are represented here, and no one is left out of the fun.
Superheroes vs Supervillains
When you start a battle, you’re given a few randomized selections of cards from your deck. In front of you are three different platforms that create various in-game effects for you and your opponent. The game lasts six turns, and the goal is to capture at least two of the three platforms to win a match.
Each card in your deck has a number on the right and an energy level on the left. The right number shows how many points the card holds and how much will get added to the platform when you place it there.
The energy level on the left shows how much energy the card will use when placed on the field. If your energy level is too low, you won’t be able to use the card. Every time you begin a match, you’ll start with one energy but gain additional energy for each turn that passes. This is where your strategy skills come into play. Your weaker cards will require only one or two energies, while your more vital cards require five or six.
The Key to Victory is an Excellent Strategy
You must consider when and where to place your cards to get the most out of your deck. Furthermore, most cards have special effects that can turn the tide in your favor if you set them up nicely.
Take, for example, Antman’s card. On its own, the card is feeble. However, if you place three other cards next to it, Antman will give all the other cards, including itself, three extra points of attack power.
Combine this with another low-tier card like Hawkeye’s, which gives all cards in its force field two extra attack power and you’ll gain a solid chance at victory. Planning all sorts of various strategies and seeing them play out successfully is such a satisfying feeling. It makes Marvel Snap a blast and keeps you returning for more.
Even Heroes Sometimes Need Help
Besides engaging gameplay, Marvel Snap boasts other features, such as a shop where you can use your gold to buy new cards. You can also use your credits to upgrade the cards in your deck and strengthen them. The game also has a news section that informs players of the latest updates to the game, special events, and helpful tips on where to get started and how to build a solid deck. An excellent place for newcomers who need a little help getting into the game.
Marvel Snap certainly surprised me. This is the first time that I’ve ever been hooked on a strategy game before, and it’s one that I don’t want to put down anytime soon. If you’re a big fan of strategy games or card Gacha games, then Marvel Snap is a must-play, regardless of whether or not you’re a Marvel fan. The game is just that entertaining.
