On the Edge, a not-for-profit media and conservation organization, has released its third game, tilted Electric Blue: Geck Dash! starring a member of an endangered species as the protagonist. This time you take control of a William’s dwarf gecko that has been captured by poachers.
To make its way back to its screwpine tree home, the gecko must pass through hazards to said home environment, including include such as forest fires, logging and invasive plant species. You can help the gecko escape via causal gameplay mechanics. Eating bugs grants the energy to blast through hazards and timed button presses let the gecko escape the poachers.
On The Edge focuses on highlighting the plight of endangered species, with their previous games raising awareness of other creatures in similar situations. The games touch on what endangered species face in terms of habitat loss, the illegal pet trade, and having to vie with invasive species.
The aim is to highlight the plight of less well-known endangered species to help save them and their habitats. If you want to know more about the William’s dwarf gecko, check out On the Edge’s site.
Electric Blue: Gecko Dash! is free and recently became available to download on iOS and Android.
