Cat Jump Review

  • August 18, 2023
  • Samantha Ramirez
Five cats, all in different getups, sit in front of a chain fence in a city alley. There are flyers on the brick wall behind the fence and boxes scattered on the sidewalk in front of it. The words "Cat Jump" sit in the upper right hand corner of the image.

It’s Raining cats and… Cats?

Made by SeePlay Inc, Cat Jump is a simple platformer game where players tap the screen to send their cats jumping from side to side. Cat jumps have three stages- The initial jump off the wall and two mid-air jumps. The first mid-air jump gives the cat more distance, and the second gives the cat more height. Players must avoid obstacles such as spinning blades, laser walls, spike traps, and more. or they will be sent falling to the ground below. There are helpful items like cannons that shoot you up and give you a temporary protective bubble and sticky walls that prevent cats from slipping down.

Choices Galore

Players have multiple cats to choose from, and there’s even an option to create your own using unlockable cosmetics. The simple pixel art style creates a fun and relaxing atmosphere supported by the upbeat background music.

In addition to the multiple cat options, players can choose what environment they wish to climb. Everyone starts in the city before earning enough coins to unlock more levels. Players need to jump through a coin to collect it as they continue their climb.

Cat Jump is a free-to-play game with the option of purchasing boosts and cosmetics from the store. There’s also a one-time purchase available to remove all ads. Ads pop up after every few tries and last about 30 seconds.

To Jump, or not to Jump?

Cat Jump home screen.Players can choose between playing the classic solo version, themed modes, or multiplayer. Cat Jump’s three modes are Dungeon Mode, Cook Challenge, and Horror Story. Each mode offers a unique spin on the base mechanics.

Cat Jump’s online multiplayer has two modes to choose from. There is one vs. one and a beta IO mode. In the IO mode, players challenge each other to climb as high as possible before time runs out. Whoever made it the highest by the end is crowned the winner. One vs. one is similar, but the round ends if one of the players falls or hits a trap.

A Meow-tastical Adventure

Cat Jump is an entertaining time cruncher with cheery music and adorable graphics. Anyone looking for a simple feel-good game is sure to be satisfied.
