Bloodline: Heroes of Lithas (RPG) Review

Heir To the Throne

Lineage, Dynasty, and Succession set the tone for Goat Co. Ltd’s new game Bloodline: Heroes of Lithas. It is a multiplayer card RPG that puts you on the path to becoming the High Guardian of the City of Light. To succeed you must fight battles with your greatest of champions while running the kingdom, collecting city taxes, resolving issues with the Senate, and raising your progeny to be the next High Guardian.

The Inevitable War

Going into battle in this game allows you to hand pick champions that you have personally armed with only their best attributes. You can raise their strength and ability by using the coins that you earn by winning battles, settling issues in the city, and exploring new lands and kingdoms. The graphics complement a strong storyline that keeps you coming back. Battles are not exceedingly difficult since it is still a card game. Therefore, you can enjoy watching your champion’s battles while concentrating on what is happening around you.

Despite being a card game, Bloodline: Heroes of Lithas utilizes a real-time combat system. To make things easier, you can set the cards to automatic, which automatically plays a card’s special attack when needed. Pay attention to your champions’ skills and traits and arrange their positions strategically. There are six types of units in Bloodline: Heroes of Lithas—Tank, Marksman, Mage, Support, Warrior and Assassin. Tanks have the highest defense and distract the opposing team, leaving them open for attack. Support units heal wounded champions while Marksman units deal heavy ranged damage. The strategy side of the battles comes into play by determining where to position your champions.

Till Death Do Us Part

Bloodline Heroes of Lithas Wedding

After completing level 3-20, you can pick two of your champions to marry, and to have the progeny of that union fight with you, to eventually become the High Guardian. Once you have unlocked companions, you can have more offspring whenever you desire. You can also level up your children’s traits and physical strength, by improving your intimacy levels. Companions unlock as you reach certain levels, and you can create new champions from here. You can even mix and match the traits of two champion parents to help them create a champion of their own to keep the bloodline going. A champion’s star level determines its level cap, so if your champion only has one star, the highest level they can attain is level 40. One way you can increase a champion’s star level is to ascend them by matching them with a duplicate champion.

The storyline that has been married to Bloodline: Heroes of Lithas (pun intended) is one full of battles, romance, kingdoms, and bloodlines. The storyline is just one of the great reasons to play this game. The graphics are beautiful and the ever-changing levels and heroes are utterly engaging. The only that stands out as a negative is that you have no other control over the champions once the battle sequences begin.

This game is very much worth your time. It is simple enough that even a beginner who has never played can enjoy it, but also complex enough where even the most strategic of minds will not be bored with it.
