A Battle for Redemption

Someone has defeated and stripped the Devil of all power and renown. Resurrected back in his body, he has a chance to battle his way to redemption. Awesome Devil: Idle RPG! is an idle RPG game developed by Gameburry Studios. As you progress through the game’s chapters, you’ll fight endless hordes of monsters and complete quests to acquire resources used to improve your stats. Awesome Devil: Idle RPG! is so engaging that you’ll want to sell your soul and team up with the devil.

Starting over isn’t always easy. Fortunately, the game has a series of guided quests that will ease players into all that Awesome Devil: Idle RPG! has to offer. These quests introduce the game’s different features and ways of upgrading your character. Your character will automatically move towards enemies and attack, as well as perform up to 6 unique skills for added damage. In addition to strategically selecting upgrades, players are also responsible for claiming rewards upon completing various tasks. These tasks include guided quests as well as daily, weekly, and repeat missions. You can also purchase a pass that contains additional rewards, though a portion of the pass is free. It should also be noted that the game presents opportunities to watch ads for additional rewards and temporary buffs to your character. However, outside of the game’s introduction of the the ad watch features, you’re never forced to watch them.

Spend Rewards to Level Up

Like many other idle games, Awesome Devil: Idle RPG! features a lot of currencies to keep track of. Assisting your character in its progression requires at least 15 different forms of currency, which can be overwhelming, but is not uncommon for the genre. However, it never feels like you need to spend money to progress in the game, since the tasks give plenty of currency as rewards to free-to-play gamers.

Slaying enemies will earn the player gold, the main currency used to level up your character’s base stats. As you complete missions, you will earn gems. You can utilize gems to summon weapons, necklaces, rings, skills, cosmetics, and artifacts that will assist you on your journey. Summons are gatcha pulls that yield random rarity items. The more players summon, the greater their chance of pulling rarer equipment. An Inventory tab allows you to equip all of your newly obtained weapons, necklaces, rings and spirits to further buff your stats. Your inventory also offers avatars that slightly change the appearance of your character, as well as effects that can boost your stats.

Awesome Devil: Idle RPG! gameplay

Grind Through Stages

You will have to complete stages to advance through the game’s many chapters. These chapters introduce new terrain and enemies, offering fresh challenges and visuals. However, they do not incorporate any new narrative or story elements, since the game lacks an overarching plot. As you progress, the stages get slightly more difficult, while the chapters ratchet up the difficulty even more. Each stage has a stage mission, which tasks you with killing a certain number of enemies within a time allotment. Typically, each stage mission has four parts, which you must complete to claim all of the rewards that that stage has to offer. The game also has dungeons which act as mini stages that provide resources, such as equipment enhancement stones, skill enhancement stones, runes and soul leaves.

Initially, progression in the game is quick, providing a sense of comfort as you swiftly advance through the stages. However, once you reach stage 80, your pace of progression hits a wall. The amount of investment into stat improvement required to complete a stage seems to significantly increase. Since it’s an idle game, there’s no harm in just letting the game passively build up the resources needed to move forward. However, that doesn’t make the substantial drop off in progression less jarring. If you are the type of player that isn’t turned off by grinding then it shouldn’t bother you much, but it could be frustrating for players that prefer the rate of progression to be consistent throughout a game.

At the end of the day, Awesome Devil: Idle RPG! is a thoroughly enjoyable and quality idle game. It doesn’t necessarily do anything new or add features that make it drastically different from other titles in the genre, but what it does do, it does well. The game offers plenty of avenues to help your character progress, and it feels rewarding watching your character grow in strength as you grind through the chapters, making it a worthwhile experience for players.
