IOS and Android users are now able to play the UK-based studio Dream Harvest’s debut title, NeuroNet: Mendax Proxy. This game places players in the role of Arc, an AI developed to control and manage the futuristic city of Catena. Players will have to balance the needs of the city with their own beliefs on things such as finances, law enforcement and the level of control provided to AI. In addition to Catena’s overall management, players will also interact with the city’s residents to explore their personal stories. This will create more and more moral dilemmas as the game continues its story.
NeuroNet takes great inspiration from visual novels and other management games, featuring a large, branching narrative based on the player’s choices. It focuses on the story of AI’s increasing prevalence in the modern world and how humans interact with it, exploring what it could mean for society as a whole. While playing, many of the game’s scenarios will ask philosophical questions of the player to decide Catena’s future. Not only will the player’s management style affect the plot, but also how they interact with the city’s residents.
Players will meet with 24 fully voiced characters, each with their own stories to tell. There are such faces as an undercover reporter, a struggling politician, and a fast-food business owner. From there, it is up to the player whether to help further their goals or hinder them. Each character presents their own moral dilemma to the player, exploring humanity’s relationship with technology in the modern age. Depending on the story route, this eight-chapter narrative can last anywhere between 6 to 14 hours for a single playthrough. The game’s branching paths encourage several replays as well.
NeuroNet: Mendax Proxy is available today on the App Store, the Google Play Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
