Race against the clock to become a railroad tycoon in Sid Meier’s Railroads. Railroads is a business strategy simulation game from 2006 developed by Feral Interactive and published by 2K. Explore 200 years of transportation history with this polished port, now available on mobile devices.
Players must manage their trains by laying tracks, hauling goods and delivering passengers. Choose from different scenarios for a variety of locations and time periods. Stats such as starting cash, train costs and maintenance will vary between difficulty levels. As you progress, you’ll unlock newer models of trains that offer faster speeds, more durability and larger capacities for cargo and/or passengers. Expand your railroads from large cities, such as Los Angeles and San Diego, into smaller towns, like Tehachapi and Barstow.
In an interview, Edwin Smith, the manager of the design team, said that the most challenging adaptation for mobile was “fitting all the information on-screen in a clean and simple manner.” Smith went on to say that “[subscriptions are] not our area — we are very much focused on bringing standalone premium games to mobile.”
Sid Meier’s Railroads is available on iOS and Android devices for $12.99.
