Square Enix has officially announced a new Kingdom Hearts mobile game coming iOS and Android devices, Kingdom Hearts: Missing-Link, in a new trailer. Announced during the 20th-anniversary celebration of the Kingdom Hearts franchise held on April 10, 2022, Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link boasts a fully 3D-rendered environment, an army of Heartless for players to battle, and customizable Keyblade Masters for the player to choose from.
Many Disney locations from previous Kingdom Hearts entries can also be seen in the trailer for the player to visit, and the visual style of the game is very similar to Kingdom Hearts III.
“Light and darkness brought about the beginning, and hearts nurtured it,” the trailer’s narrator says. “Life was passed down time and time again until the land was filled with thriving people. This is a city for light and darkness, dreams and distortion, the remembered and the forgotten–Scala ad Caelum, the Missing Link. Here, people gathered to be a part of a whole, in societies that sprawled and branched like veins through the city. The night you awoke in this world, the stars shone contorted in the pitch-black sky”, the official description reads.
Square Enix has also announced during the Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link trailer that the game will be receiving a closed beta sometime in 2022. Neither the game nor the beta test has received an exact release date at this time, although it is known that the closed beta will only be released in specific regions. Those regions have not yet been specified.
This is the most recent of many other Kingdom Hearts mobile games, the others being Kingdom Hearts Dark Road and Kingdom Hearts Union X. Square Enix revealed during the presentation that the grand finale storyline of Kingdom Hearts Union X will be released for free sometime in August of 2022.
